Matthias Eppenberger

Matthias Eppenberger studied law and economics at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and was awarded a doctorate in law in 1989. After working in a St. Gallen law firm and a District Court he was admitted to the bar.
In 1989 he began his banking career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. He was an associate during the founding of the Goldman Sachs Private Bank Switzerland. He was subsequently promoted to executive director of the bank. In 1998 he started his own investment advisory firm. In the year 2000, along with his 4 partners, he founded Private Client Bank, the first Family Office Bank in Switzerland. Matthias led the bank as CEO until in 2018 he retired from active management but remained an advisor and member of the bank’s governing board until 2023. Then, Matthias, together with another entrepreneurial family, has been involved as investor and board member of a group of companies. In May 2024, he joined the Advisory Board of 1875 Finance, aiming at developing the Zurich branch.
